Reschedule Tin Angel Show

Thursday, March 26th

(originally scheduled for 3/5, but postponed due to snow)

It’s been a few months since I’ve played an original music showcase.  In the meantime, I’ve been writing a bunch, so this is a perfect opportunity to debut some of my new tunes!

This show should be really cool because I’m sharing the bill w/ two great women singer writers, Alexis Cunningham and Melody Rose.  Plus our friends at That Mag are helping us get the word out. (btw look for a new interview w/ me at That Mag in March!)

And to top it off, this show is the same week as my birthday, so we may be celebrating before and after 😉

I hope you can join us!

Just in time for Valentine’s Day…

If you know me or my music, you know that I don’t write very many love songs. Call me unromantic, that’s okay. I just seem to gravitate towards other topics because the world seems to be filled w/ so many love songs.

But this Valentine’s Day, I’d like to share a song I wrote for my fiance. I actually wrote it to propose to her…and yes it worked!

At first I didn’t want to share this song w/ the world because it was just meant for my fiance and I. But then I thought about it some more and wondered if other people would like it almost as much as she did. Plus she was glad I made a recording of the song (points for me!)

So here it is. It’s called “Trading in my Six-String“.

Happy Valentine’s  Day!

Headed Down South…

I’m looking forward to getting on the road again this coming week. This will be my 4th trip to perform the Southern States this year. This time I’m playing a fundraiser for a friend of friend in Charleston on Saturday, 11/15.  It’s open to the public and details are on graphic. You can also RSVP here.

While I’m down there, I’m going to make a stop in Georgia to play a few tunes at Eddie’s Attic on Monday 11/17. Such a great venue!

New Music Happening Now!

Last year I set out to raise money for a new record.  I did it right from this very website, just using my existing mailing list and social media reach. The response was awesome!

What began as a “record” evolved into a very different project.  Since the way music is consumed these days is so vastly different than even 5 years ago, I decided to change w/ the times. Instead of a record, I decided to give my backers (people who contributed to the campaign) a new song ever month.

I began delivering new songs in May of this year.  As I write, I’ve released 5 brand new songs as well as a 10 song live record. Not bad for 5 months!

What dawned on me was that I had a bit of writers block… and I didn’t even realize it! 2010 was the last time I “officially” released anything. That’s waaaaaaay too long to be silent!

Since I feel accountable to the people who gave me money to make new music, I’ve had no choice but to produce. I’ve had to let go of my perfectionism, my fears and anxiety and just get the new music out the door.

It’s been stressful to say the least, but it was what I’ve needed for a long time.

So today I write to announce that I will be doing a Kickstarter campaign to gain more backers, in other words…

  • I want more people to hold me accountable,
  • I want more people to give me feedback
  • And I want more people to care about this project!

So get ready, because I’m on a mission and there’s no stopping me now!

Guitar Center Songwriter Contest 4

Thanks to the people who backed my last fundraising campaign, I’ve been writing and producing new songs every month.  It’s given me the motivation, accountability and the funds to be able to deliver new fully produced songs each month. But these songs have been exclusively for my campaign backers.

So I decided to take my favorite new song and record a youtube style version of me performing it solo acoustic. The song is called “Taking My Turn” and it’s about just that… taking action.

I’m really happy with the way the video turned out so I decided to enter it in the Guitar Center Singer Songwriter Contest this year. The grand prize in an EP with Grammy winning producer Don Was and a performance on the Jimmy Kimmel Show!
